Hawkesdene House first opened its doors to guests in 1995. Roy and Daphne Sargent built the inn and cabins and started the first llama treks in Western North Carolina.

In 2002, they handed over the keys to Phil Rampy and Rob Scheiwiller, two Orlando businessmen who shared their love of the Smokies. Phil and Rob have added conference and special events facilities; and their own upscale style, which they're well-known for in their Orlando ventures.
Phil is the owner of Olde Town Brokers, and is most noted for his transformation of a once threatened Orlando neighborhood into the now blossoming Thornton Park district.
In addition to owning Hawkesdene House, he is a principal of EO Inn & Urban Spa and The Veranda Bed & Breakfast.
